Product Description

Basmati is graded on grain length, aroma, and age. Ours is aged before milling so the grains cook long and dry rather than soft and clumped β€” the difference between a biryani that layers and one that turns to porridge.

What makes it different?

Young basmati is cheaper and cooks badly. We pay for aged stock and verify grain length by lot, which is why our rice behaves the same in a home pot and a commercial rice cooker.

Key features

  • Aged a minimum of 12 months for length and aroma

  • Household bags and wholesale cases

Ingredients

Aged basmati rice. Single ingredient, no additives.

Storage Instructions

Store sealed in a cool, dry place. Basmati improves with age when kept dry; avoid humidity and strong-smelling neighbours in the pantry.

Cooking Instructions

  1. Rinse 1 cup of rice until the water runs clear, then soak for 20–30 minutes and drain.
  2. Combine with 1Β½ cups water and bring to a boil.
  3. Cover, reduce to low, and simmer 12 minutes.
  4. Rest 10 minutes off the heat, then fluff gently with a fork so the long grains stay whole.

Soaking is what gives basmati its full length β€” skip it and the grains cook short.
